About Mike
Mike Venables is an actor, writer and speaker based in the West Midlands.
For many years he worked as a teacher of drama and public speaking, helping students of all ages to find confidence in their voices and tell their stories with clarity and conviction. Alongside his teaching career, he has pursued a lifelong passion for theatre, appearing in a wide range of productions and developing his own distinctive style of solo performance.
Mike's work combines humour, storytelling and a fascination with the lives of remarkable people. He is particularly interested in moments of courage, failure, love and reinvention – the turning points that shape who we become. His performances seek to entertain, move and provoke thought in equal measure.
Recent work includes Beethoven: Edge of Silence, a one-man play exploring the life, loves and struggles of Ludwig van Beethoven. Blending drama, history and music, the show has been praised for its warmth, energy and emotional honesty. Mike continues to develop new writing and performance projects for theatres, festivals and community audiences.
He has also written on communication and public speaking and remains committed to helping others discover the power of language, whether on stage, in the classroom or in everyday life.
Above all, Mike believes that stories matter. They help us understand ourselves, connect with others and make sense of a complicated world. Through theatre, writing and conversation, he hopes to share stories that are entertaining, truthful and memorable.
